Like
many of the islands in the different
islands in the Caribbean Turks and Caicos
will offer you the usual activities of a
tropical island. Beaches, water sports
and scenes from nature are all very
common.
However, beyond all this you
will also find that there are some
special exclusive Turks and Caicos
attractions that you can look forward to
during your stay
there.

A historic place that
you should definitely visit in Providenciales is Cheshire
Hall. This Turks and Caicos attraction is about 200 years
old and made up of ruins from an old cotton plantation.
You will be thrilled to find that the ruins have been
carefully preserved by the National Trust and are
carefully set against the scenes of today’s
Providenciales. Closely linked with this is another
tourist spot which is the Wades Green Plantation which is
also owned by the National Trust. Likewise this is a
cotton plantation that tells of the history of island and
its people.
The Turks and Caicos
National Museum is another must-see historic spot in the
island. Located in Grand Turk Island in one of the oldest
stone homes known as the Guinep House you will find
various artifacts and exhibits. All these recount
shipwrecks which have been discovered, the Lucayans and
recent important events that have taken place.
Besides these
historical places there are also a lot of natural wonders
that can be found in Turks and Caicos attractions. The
Middle Caicos Caves are the largest and most impressive
of its kind in the whole Caribbean. Found right next to
the beach you can enjoy swimming and snorkeling after a
tour of these. Other massive limestone formations also
include that of The Hole in Long Bay, Providenciales. You
can be lowered in to the hole which is forty feet deep
and features a swimming hole at the
bottom.
Wildlife is also part
of the many natural wonders that you will discover in
this country. Start off with some bird watching in the
salt ponds and inland marshes. Migratory birds frequent
this place which has become a feeding ground for them.
Next you can enjoy watching the Rock Iguana which are
large lizards that are harmless in nature. Found mostly
in Little Water Cay these reptiles are now being
protected by the government. Aside from these you
can also get a glimpse of humpback whales in Grand Turk
and Salt Cay of you visit between January to April. Dive
into the waters and you’ll even be able to hear them
communicating with each other. For those who can’t come
during these months they can still enjoy Jojo the
Dolphin. This bottlenose dolphin lives in the shallow
waters of the island and has been around since 1980. He
has become quite comfortable with his home and
voluntarily interacts with the people who come around to
see him. Protected by the government Jojo the dolphin is
considered a National Treasure.
Aside from these Turks
and Caicos attractions you will be able to find many
other exciting offerings while you are staying
here.
