Going
on a Barbados Honeymoon
|
|
On the
east of the Caribbean Sea you will find
an island that was briefly claimed many
years ago by Spain
and Portugal.
This
beautiful country is known as Barbados
within which you will find a rich
history, culture and natural beauty.
Coming from a non-volcanic origin
Barbados is composed mainly of
limestone-coral and is part of the North
Atlantic Ocean submarine mountain
range.
|
A tropical climate is
found throughout, making it ideal for mangroves and
sugarcane plantations and the perfect setting for
that romantic Barbados
honeymoons.
The capital of
Barbados is Bridgetown. The country's economy
is amongst the most successful in the world and it is the
51st richest economy globally. Here high
standards of living are enjoyed throughout. The population of the
country is only about 280,000. The people of Barbados are
of African descent and are known as Barbadian or
Bajans.
A small percentage
is of European descent. English is the major language used
throughout the place, although Bajan (which is a regional
variation of English) is also widely spoken. The
folks here are very warm and hospitable people. With
tourism being a top economic factor, Barbadians always see
to it that tourists get to have a good
time.
It's strange to think
that in its earlier days the main source of income for
the island was sugarcane
cultivations and sugar production. However as time has
passed they have shifted to being dependent on tourism
and manufacturing.
Tourism has grown so
huge that honeymoons here are amongs the most
popular in the caribbean. Couples flock here to
visit the lovely Barbados tourist attractions and
to stay in one of the many Barbados beach
hotels.
Couples often go for
Barbados honeymoons because of what the island has to
offer. Of course here you will find some of the best
beaches in the world; this makes for a very romantic
get-away, especially with the other features of the
island. Some of the great activities are water
sports and things like snorkeling and scuba diving
being among the other top choices.
If these are a
little too much effort for you, you may
consider some of the numerous spots to visit where
the country's rich history can be
learned.
The cultural heritage
of the island is also definitely something to explore.
Their English roots are still clearly visible on many
levels. Aside from this however the culture of Barbadians
also has other Caribbean and Latin American
influences.
They have a strong
love for festivities as observed in the Crop Over
festival. This is an important event which is eagerly
anticipated by both locals and tourists who come
here.
Music festivals and
costumes parades are also vast in number in
addition to the traditional
activities.
In terms of food you
will find a mixture of many different cuisines in the
island; but of course there is still the distinct Bajan
cooking which many local chefs blend in with
international dishes. Tantalise thos
tastebuds.
This island is
definitely a good place for any couple to spend a
honeymoon or for anyone to have a vacation for that
matter. Make sure that you book your flights to Barbados early and
get your Barbados
car rental secured so you can really
explore the beauty of the island.
You can be sure that
you will enjoy in the festivities, local attractions and
the many other things that this island has to offer
you.
