Another popular dish in Caribbean dining is the jerk which hails mainly from Jamaica. This is a salted and spiced piece of meat usually chicken. This is very closely related to the Creole dishes that can be found in Louisiana. A lot of other dishes have a strong Creole influence on them but is made distinct since its flavors are mixed with the local island spices. This is cooked over a flame to maintain the moisture of the meat and the flavors. Although jerk has become a popular dish worldwide there is nothing like trying the real thing. 

 

Alongside these various Caribbean dining dishes you will usually find rice as an accompaniment. Even rice can be cooked in various ways depending on where you are. You might get it plain steamed, yellow, mixed with spices or even mixed with coconut. Each place has their own way of cooking their rice to compliment the dishes that they serve. You will also find other side dishes or mainstays like sweet potatoes, yam, corn and potatoes.  

 

Although each region has their own distinct style of cooking and use their own selection of spices you can be sure that you will have a delicious meal wherever you go.
